Zoe Has Had Her Kittens

by Melinda
(Adelaide, SA, Australia)

When I first found out about my ragdoll cat Zoe being pregnant I was really excitied but also I was worried. She was only young, not even a year, and immediately I started my research on the internet. (Thank you to all on this site for all your help and support, your information was very valuable).

It didn't help when I heard about young pregnancies resulting in the death of the queen. I love my little Zoe very much! I feed her the occasional tin of chicken flavoured kitten food and during the final few weeks I could put my hand on her belly and feel the kittens kicking and moving. Fe--eeew at least they were alive!

I was hopefull on the fact that she would be closer to a year than the 6 month olds that I had been reading about. I was forever talking to my mum about the stories I had heard on this site. It also worried me that because of her age she might not get to the kittens quick enough or there would be a miscarriage or she wouldn't care for them.

I researched and researched to prevent it. I was looking forward to experiencing the birth of these kittens and I was going to sleep over the night before and I was going to the show the day after that. I wanted to go sooo badly and I was worried that she would have them while we were away or before, so I couldn't go.

I came home from school today, the last day of school before a long weekend, to my Auntie caring for my cat and 6 healthy kittens, no problems, of course mum wouldn't be soo happy about too many because we wanted only a small amount and we were hopefull because she was soo young.

But her tummy continued to grow extremely large. I'm still watching her and the kittens like a hawk an trying to let her have her space. They are SOOO CUTE! 3 blacks, 2 tabbies and 1 grey (mum is a bit annoyed because none of them look like her). I love my cheeky kittens and her babies! I hope this has eased your worries :D
