Will a Cat Eat Her Kittens?

by Rj Ocot
(Philippines)

Question:
Is it the nature of the cat to eat the kittens several days after birth, or is it an indication that something is wrong with the cat?

Answer:
It's definitely not the nature of the cat to eat her kittens. It happens very very rarely. Experts say cats eat their kittens when they feel they can’t feed them, because of a lack of milk. Other cats have probably done it out of fear. But it’s very uncommon.
