False labors? NEW
by: Anonymous

My cat Molly is heavily pregnant, but I don't know the exact due date because she was already pregnant when I got her a few weeks ago, though nobody knew. Over the last few days, I've seen her panting and becoming very restless and vocal, but this soon disappears and nothing happens. Are these false labors?

How to tell when a pregnant cat might be due?
by: Shelly Plemons

A few weeks ago someone dropped off an expecting cat outside my house. I felt sorry for her so I brought her inside. I was needing help trying to figure out when she could be due which I expect to be soon. I have been able to feel and see the kittens moving around for a couple weeks. Her nipples are already enlarged and the hair around some of them is gone. When you rub her underneath on her belly back after her last nipples you can feel like two swollen areas seperated by s center line thats not as swollen. Her temp is 99.9 right now. She has already been showing the nesting behavior. One minute shes all loving and the next she wants to be left alone and has been like this for couple days now. Any help trying to figure out when she is possibly due would be appriciated. Thanks! Shelly P.

dependant cat having kittens
by: long haired tabby owner

my cat is a very dependant cat like to follow me around and doesnt like to be in different room to the rest of the family, i know shes close to haveing her kittens as she now comes sits next to me, can see her staring at me outta the corner of her eye and also ahe touches me with her paw to get my attention, i think it will be 3 or 4 days from this point ( judging from her last litter) she also doesnt hide the kittens from me either, her last litter we made a box for and she ignored it completley an kept trying to sit next to me al the way through the delivery eventually i sat out in the hall with her. After she had the kittens she kept bringing them to me if i sat down she would get one and put it on my knee or next to me as if to say 'you can look after that one for a bit' she fed an cleaned them all fine but constantly wanted me to be around them too. i know other wild cats have a 'nanny situation' where other female cats in the group will take turns to look after the babys, but i was shocked that my domestic cat adopted this behavior too. Think it might be coz she is a very dependant cat - sometime she acts more like a dog than a cat.

Some cats wait for their owners to come home.
by: Cele

Some cats wait for their owners to come home before they deliver the kittens.

One of my cats was expecting kittens, and the day she was due, she did have a sort of water break all over the kitchen counter. She had a distressed look on her face, and we knew she was going to have the kittens any time soon. My family members said she sat around in her basket for several hours waiting for me to get home before she delivered. And sure enough, soon after I got home and pet her, the kittens came.

Popping sound?
by: Renee

My cat has just started to show about 1 1/2 weeks ago and last night she was breathing a little fast but not quite like she was in labor, and her stomach was making popping sounds like, when us humans have gas maybe..and she has been sleeping and eating alot.and she also has been looking for a spot.I was wondering if i miscalculated when she got pregnant, and the birth maybe soon.

Will relocating a pregnant queen to a new home about two weeks before her due date effect her delivery?
by: Kerri

I have agreed to care for a friend's cat while she is going out of town for an extended period of time. On a recent vet visit, it was evident that Veruca was quite pregnant. Since the owner cannot change her plans, I'm worried about making the mom-to-be comfortable in my home as quick as possible. Any tips for the transition? Is moving her into my home dangerous so soon before her birth?
