The Vet That Shot Cats

Asking a vet is not always a good idea. Wim from The Netherlands tells about a vet that shot cats ... and not because they were ill. Here's the story:

Loving cats and asking the vet for help is stupid. We, living in Holland, were friends of a woman in Belgium. She was not very clever but it was always nice to visit her and her dog.

She lived outside of a village near to some houses and woods. In her backyard she often saw wild cats and gave them things to eat. Every day the cats returned to have nice food.

Of course she saw some pregnant cats coming to eat. And her visitors grew in number. Her daughter, living in Holland, some day said: "Mum, this is terrible, all those cats every day here . You should do something do get rid of them."

She asked us what to do. We said: "If you really want to stop these visitors, you must stop giving them food. They will go somewhere else and find their food."

Some day she told us about a talk she had with her vet. That vet was , like her already died husband, a hunter. He was willing to help her. We said: "You know how to solve your problem. Shooting them is not a solution for somebody who says she likes animals."

Some weeks later she told on the phone that her vet had paid a visit, with his gun, and the cats were gone now. We never more have visited her.
