Surprise! Kittens Under The Bed!

by Marrissa
(Oregon)

We were all in shock when my cat got pregnant. It had been less than a year since she had her first litter. We found out she was pregnant with kittens about a week or two before she had them. We had noticed weight gain in her abdomen but one of her kittens, the runt named Yoda, was still nursing at the time. So we figured it was just extra milk left over.

I had told my brother about how our boy cat named Chicken was not neutered and had gotten on her before (I took him off as best I could but he was really aggressive.) He claimed it was in my head so we didn't notice it.

When we finally realized she was pregnant we were concerned for her health and the babies, because in her first litter she had 7 kittens, and sadly only 4 survived. Not only that but she had a desise, the vet didn't even no what it was. It's a desise where she has little muscle and crawls around instead of walks, she can't get in the litter box without help.

We immediately started feeding her healthy food for expecting cats and made up a small box with old towels for her. We kept her in the box most of the time so she would hopefully have them there.

When she had her first litter, she was a stray we found in a hole with 7 kittens. Anyways at the time she still was able to crawl somewhat and we found that she jumped out of the box and moved somewhere. We didn't find her for awhile until my mom found her asleep under her bed. She hadn't shown signs of labor, so we didn't put her back in the box.

And the next thing we knew we were all woken up by small meows, and a foul smell. And then we looked under the bed and there they were! 4 kittens. Three looked like their dad who is a coon cat and were all girls. And the one who looked like the momma cat was a boy and is a tabby.

The girls who look like their daddy are named Gucci, Meg, Nolla. We only kept Gucci and Max. As for Meg and Nolla though, they went to great homes of people we knew. And now the cat from the first litter, Yoda, is pregnant!
