Stubborn Kitties

by Jane
(Edinburgh, UK)

My cat Diamond was meant to be a house cat but I moved to a house where no cats where allowed. I asked my parents to look after her untill I got a new home where she could live me again.

My father however, decided that she could be an outdoor cat and started letting her out but not when in heat. Unfortunately for my dad, he didn't realise that she was more intelligent than him.

She worked out my fathers routine at night and waited for him to come back after walking the dogs and made a bid for freedom to have her wicked way with the boys as soon as the door was open.

Well that was about the 10th May and she hasn't had her kittens yet. She has been fine, looking for nesting sites, eating like a pig, playing and kittens still moving.

I took her to the vet and he was happy saying she is in excellent condition apart from being overdue. He double-checked the calculations to double-check but yup she is on day 73...eck!

I have to take her back to the vet tomorrow for a scan as this will see what's going on in there and then a decision will be made on what we are going to do next.

I'm hoping she will have them tonight to save me the extra cost :P but mean time she is sleeping of todays ordeal and kitties are still moving even though the vet couldn't hear them as her heart beat was too loud to hear the kittens.

My question now is what has been the longest time you have personally known a cat to give birth to a healthy litter?
