Stray Kittens Rock!

by Gina
(USA)

Eight years ago, when I was four, my parents came inside and told me that they found a Momma cat with 3 kittens in our garage.

We already had alot of cats, so we couldn't bring them in, but we did go out and feed them every day. Those kittens became our best friends. There was Sandy, the sand colored one, Blacky, the black one, and Orangey, the orange one.

Sandy was very sweet, Orangey was very tough, and blackey was very shy. Nobody really liked blackey because he was always hiding.

One day we went outside and my dad came in looking sad. the kitten that was mine, Sandy, had been hit by a car and died. I wasn't sad then because I was 4 but now I cry when I think about him.

A couple of months later, we came home from Disneyworld to find that Orangey had been killed by a wild animal. I miss him too.

My parents became worried for Blackey, so they chased him around the garage until they caught him, and brought him inside to be an indoor kitty.

About a year later, his mom who we never brought inside because she was smart about the outdoors left and never came back. Luckily, we still have Blacky. He's a happy 8-year-old kitty here at home.

That's my first story about stray kittens. Here is my 2nd:

Last year on April 7th it was super cold outside and raining VERY hard at 2:00 in the morning. I was awake because I was having a sleepover with my friend.

I was laying down, trying to get to sleep, when I heard a weird sound. It was like a creepy form of crying. It sounded like it was coming from my parakeets cage so I ran over to make sure they were alright, and they were fine.

Then I realized that the sound was coming from outside. I put on my bathrobe to keep warm and snuck outside (if my parents had heard me go out at 2 in the morning i'd be in so much trouble!).

It was pretty creepy being out in my yard with so much rain and so many trees and so late. I went looking around until I found something in the ivy, the sound was coming directly from there!

It was a TINY black kitten, crying for its momma. I knew I'd be so grounded if I brought him inside, but I had to! I could just leave him!

I went to pick him up and he scratched me with his baby claw which didnt hurt at all, then he ran off. I tried to catch him but sadly, I missed. I went back in and went to bed.

The next night I realized that the light in my garage was on, so I went outside to go turn it off, when, SURPRISE! Inside my garage was a mom cat and two kittens, one of them being the black one!

The other one, who was orange, was trying to play with the black one when the mom grabbed them and stuck them behind a board. The little black one decided to be a rebel and came running out to me, but I didn't touch him so that I wouldn't get into trouble with the momma.

I brought them out TONS of food (wet food, dry food, cat milk...) and water then left. The next day they were gone (and so was the food!) and they didn't come back. I think about them all the time, although I had thought that they were dead until yesterday, when I found a black cat that looked about 1 year old (same age that the kitten would be!) and I was so happy.
