Smokey's Three Kittens

It was just two weeks ago when I said to my husband our 1-year-old cat Smokey was looking big. She had been eating lots more food or late but I did not think much of it.

Last week I knew for sure she was pregnant as she was getting even bigger and she was not going out very much and doing a lot of sleeping.

Yesterday 11th March'08, when I came home from school run, she was acting strange. She would not stop following me around and was meowing at me alot. She then dissapeared.

I found her burried in my son's quilt cover. I then realized she was going to give birth, so I quickly prepared a big plastic box with newspaper and a blanket for her to give birth in.

Within 5 minutes of me putting her in there I saw her tummy contracting and she had the first one.
Within an hour she had another two.

Smokey and kittens are doing well, she dealt with everything, there was nothing I had to do. All I have to do is keep watch and make sure everyone is ok and she is feeding them.

What a lovely surprise.
