How I built a site about cats that attracts over 30,000 visitors per month
Who built this site about cats? I did. My name is Marc de Jong. I was born in the Netherlands and I’m currently living in Belgium.
My parents are dedicated pet lovers and I grew up with dogs, rabbits, birds and ... cats. It was only natural I would keep pets myself one day. I chose a cat, which I consider the world’s most graceful, most mysterious and funniest animal (although cats are dead-serious about themselves!). Since the late Eighties I’ve had several cats, mainly cats I took from animal shelters to give them a better life. Professionally I’ve been working as a newspaper editor, reporter and music critic. Around 2000 the Internet became a serious hobby. The Internet opened up the opportunity to talk about subjects I truly liked… at times that I preferred – unlike with newspapers you’re not dictated by topicality. One day I found a web site about a tool that told me I could build a professional web site even without knowledge of web site building. Site Build It!
– and yes, I built it: a web site about my favorite pet, a site about cats. And Cat Pregnancy Report has become a very popular site about cats. The results have been amazing from the start. Within four months after it got online it ranked in the Top 1% op most visited web sites on the Net. And now the site has passed the mark of 30,000 unique visitors per month. Yes, it’s that popular! Cat Pregnancy Report is based on my own experience, on research and on all my visitors and other cat lovers have told me. The site has shown me how great it is to share my passion with others, and yes, it even provides with a very nice income! Both factors – doing something I love, and getting paid for it – have made me a happier person, more determined than ever to make this web site even better and better. In fact, it gave a new direction to my life. I’ve started building more web sites and I may even call myself a web professional now. Obviously, I have to thank you, being a visitor of this site. But I guess I’ve also come to the point where I should say: Thank you,
