Sabrina was pregnant ... but then her belly went thinner
Lauren from the US had a devastating experience with her cat. Sabrina’s pregnancy mysteriously went wrong. Well, to tell the truth- in reality things aren’t always perfect, (and I am not telling this to scare all of you who do have pregnant cats). My cat's pregnancy went mysteriously wrong, even though I have kept her in an enclosed place, and thought that I’d know what to do when, or if things went wrong … Sabrina (the mommy) was apparently in labor for almost a whole week... or what we thought, since we didn't get to witness the birth. I stayed up three whole nights, hoping SOMETHING would come! We called the vet, they said a kitten might have been stuck, but she was showing no pain or discomfort like a cat that would. She discharged a couple of times... but no babies. From Sunday to Thursday we were worried and anxious, till we noticed Sabrina's stomach was suddenly getting thinner and back to normal. We've tried to feel for kittens but there was nothing in there except for her milk sacks that was also slowly going away. I've checked all over my room, maybe there were kittens under my bed or behind the dresser ... but still no babies. Sabrina, we all figured, must have eaten her own kittens because they were either unhealthy or dead, or even had them in the litter box before I got rid of it, (which I have checked before, but obviously not good enough). I am devastated and I blame it all on myself, despite my worry, cleaning, and endless times of making sure things were all right... but some things were not meant to be, obviously. So, I would like to advise all to whom who have pregnant babies; DO NOT let the mommy wonder around the house close to her due date. I suggest putting her in a closet or a room with a door where she can't get out. Make sure you clean the closet/room completely, except with her box or newspaper that she nests in. Keep your eyes on the mom. Cats are extremely sneaky, so you want to keep her and the kittens safe ... I hoped this would be a happy story, but perhaps I've learned a valuable lesson, although I think things would have gone better ... and I pray none of you do the same as I did.
