Russian Blue Cats – Loving
Companions From The East

Russian Blue cats are a very elegant breed, famous for its short plush coat and beautiful green eyes. They are quiet, independent and lovable, and popular in North America and Europe.

Russian Blue cats are believed to originate in ... (surprise!) Russia. It’s a natural breed, and not a crossing of other cat breeds.

Sources say the breed comes from the northern city of Archangelsk, which is why they were originally called Archangel cats. Later, at the beginning of its career at English cat shows, the name changed to Foreign Blue.

In the late 19th Century this silvery blue beauty entered the States and finally got his current name. They also became popular among breeders in Scandinavia.

They have a broad face at eye level, but the top of their skull is rather flat and narrow. The coat is so soft and thick that it feels like silk.

Try for yourself: close your eyes and touch a Russian Blue kitten. It’s very special!

It’s not difficult to find Russian Blue kittens.

Just search the ads in cat magazines or on web sites of breeders. Pricing of these kittens depends on type, marking and bloodlines.

It's a perfect breed for people searching a cat that is easily kept indoors.

Although strong, healthy and athletic built, these cats do not search for much action. They won’t destroy your household and keep themselves immaculately clean.

A cat of this breed tends to be reserved, sometimes even shy temperament, but is very sweet to his room mates. Russian Blue Cats are not so fond of strangers, but make adorable family members.
