Totally Right by: Anonymous
You are not in the wrong at all. Those people at the fostering company shouldn't be in the business at all if they think that was the wrong things to do. A fostering agency is supposed to care for animals, not keep them from coming into the world. It's not your fault.
This recently happened with us as well. We were preparing to get our adopted stray spayed, but were waiting until she was done nursing. She's an outside cat, and we now suspect she's pregnant. She seemed to have lost a lot of weight today, so we're on the lookout.

Rile the Stray Queen by: Anonymous
Your So Right To Do That! Boo on them for telling you you shouldd of spayed her. People think that animals arent animals or people arent people until theyre outside the stomache so it must be ok to kill them, or abort. Its Not! Your practically murdering.

Please listen before passing judgement. by: Anonymous
It is so easy for some to say that you should have killed the unborn kittens. I suppose they have their reasons too. I think that you are kind and loving to have offered this Queen a safe haven to raise her babies. I'm not going to compare cats to humans but I hate it when people are so quick to judge.
I was in a similar position and got such a lecture from the local vet nurse (we live in a small town) that I was crying and had to call the next closeset vet who was nearly a 1 hour drive away just to get advice and help on caring for her. I prayed nothing went wrong and thankfully it did not. We now have four healthy 10 day old kittens and a safe and happy mother cat. In the beginning we were only going to keep mum but the temptation to also keep one of the babies is pretty strong...
Only the closest person to the Queen can make the best decision for her and the kittens. Others are just too far removed from the situation. I just wish I had the courage to say this to the vet nurse myself at the time. It is sad that so many unwanted kittens are born but no single person (vet nurse, vet or otherwise) can be all knowing of every situation. Have faith in your decisions. Only you truly know the whole story. Good luck with your cats!

We had the same problem by: Sandy, Australia
we had the same problem. Our 6 month old kitten was due to have the 'big op.' when we suspected she could be pregnant. The vet said that he would recommend we continue with the operation (even though she was due in 3 weeks), and the local protection agency said it was the best option as there was so many unwanted kittens around as it was. But we felt the same way as you, especially as we could feel them. Anyway, we let her have them, and 3 days ago she had four cute bundles of fluff, all looking exactly like her. We have talked to our local pet shop who said they would take them, so I hope it all turns out okay.

I absolutely agree with your decision. by: Brittany
Around mid July, my boyfriend and I found a very skinny Queen who was looking for food. That night we bought her a bed and some food and we brought her into our home. We named her Odette and had fully adopted her into our family. A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I noticed that Odette was eating like a pig.. She was always hungry for more. Then her stomach began to grow.. We just thought that she was eating too much. But then, I saw that her nipples were very big and had a bright pink tone to them.. I used my finger to lightly squeeze one, and milk began to drip out. It was official that Odette was pregnant. The thing is that I have no idea when she conceived these kittens, and I don't know when to expect them... Do you have any advise on to know when the time is very near? I live at my home, and my boyfriend is a full time student with a job, so..... I want to be prepared so that Odette can go through this pregnancy in peace, even if we are not present. I would appreciate it. And, killing baby kittens is absolutely wrong. I am so glad to hear that you didn't. Thank you.
