Outside Cat Delivers Elsewhere
My calico adopted me in Nov. She appeared with 3 4 months old kittens. I fed them since. They were terrified of people. The kittens disappeared, one in Dec, two in Jan which I think someone took in. I was just getting them used to us and wanted to try feeding them in the house.
So the mom is still with us, only she was pregnant again shortly thereafter missing bunch happened. She is so young and cute. Point is: I fed her, trained her, made her mine, got her use to us... and the day she goes into labor, she runs off and we don't see her two days.
April 1 she shows up eating 3 bowls of food. Nice, skinny and ..kittenless. I waited for them. She disappointed me. She is mostly outside cat, but why would she run two blocks from her home, food and water to have kittens? Old habits, same old place maybe as batch No.1?
I can't find them and she looks real good and healthy. Must have been a neat delivery. I was all ready for that too. She has a nice place, she stays on our back covered porch, boxes, blankets, couch, dark hiding spots, etc.... But she left to do this. I haven't been able to follow her. I tried last night and she caught me and followed ME back to my house. She has been extra cuddly, rubbing, etc. Why?
She is a better cat now. I want to take on her kittens. I want to get her to a vet asap, but I want to see kittens first: not a month from now when they follow her over here from who knows where. This ended up as disappointing to me. She had been here. We feed her inside.
