My Posh Cat

by Grub Grant
(Edinburgh, Scotland)

I got a beautiful blue point rag doll kitten with gorgeous blue eyes. I decided to breed her during her second season to a pedigree male but before I got the chance to check it out, she escaped out of my new double glazed kitchen window! Disaster!

I had been at work al day and came home to find my neighbour hanging out of his window telling me that my kitten (not really a kitten at 1 year and 4 months old, but my baby nonetheless) had been out in the garden meowing for hours, no doubt calling out to all the unneutered males in the area!

Oh no, now I was going to have indiscriminate kittens, by some moggy on the prowl!!

No offense to all those moggies out there, I used to have moggies myself but decided to get pedigrees so I could be fairly sure of what I was getting and also have a huge ginger (or red/silver tabby) maine coon cat that I got neutered!

I am fairly sure she (Ratchet) is pregnant as she did not come back into season and I think she is looking a bit wider! She has become more affectionate towards me, rather than her ginger pal (Rooney) and she has been doing a funny scraping thing with her front feet on my bed!!

I was led to believe cats are pregnant for 9 weeks but my vet informed me that it is closer to 8 weeks which means she must be due in about two weeks.

I have at least 3 good homes for kittens to go to but the criteria is that they must look like her. Even if they are indiscriminate in colour as long as they have her blue eyes I should have no problem.

I have never had a pregnant animal before but have had to help a lot with puppies before. She is the funniest animal I have ever met, crazy, she leaps off the wardrobe onto my stomach when I am fast asleep, and it hurts.

I dont think she realises she is pregnant as she is still as wild as ever and a bit stupid, though right from 8 weeks old she totally mothered my year old maine coon, so I think she will make a good mother!

Your story is very cute! But when you said she is doing that weird thing with her paws? I think that she is just sharpening her claws on your bed although my cat does that too and she is pregnant also. Well I guess I will never know so oh well! Talk to you laters!
