Koeshke's sad birth

by Charmaine
(South Africa)

I have a cat called Koeshke, she is now 3 years old and fell pregnant for the first time. This was a shock to me because I took her to a vet as a kitten to get spayed and the vet told me she won't ever be able to have kittens because of her size so I don't have to get her spayed. Koeshke is a small cat weighing only 1.9 kg.

Well, the vet was wrong! Koeshke gave birth this weekend....she went into labour at about 7 pm and the first two kittens were born a hour apart. The next kitten came out at 10 pm,it was a still born and a bit under developed.

She was struggling a lot to get the kitten out so I had to pull it out. I cried just as hard as she did! She kept licking it to see if it wont start breathing, I was crying all the time. I could see she was in so much pain and my heart broke when I took the dead kitten away from her!

The last kitten came at 2 am the next morning also still born and very misformed with two heads. I sat up all night watching over her.

The two kittens that were born first is very small, not bigger than mice and she's very protective ofer them. She only lets me touch them and their doing well. She's a very good mother!

That is so sad, but so sweet.
I'm glad you cat came through, and with two healthy kits. I just feel bad for the other two though.
