Miss Kitty Gave Birth .... And I Was With Her!
Annie, an 11-year-old girl from Canada, watched how her kitty gave birth. She tells you all about it in this detailed report. Howdy, cat lovers! I am an 11-yr-old cat lover and my sweetie pie, Miss Kitty, was expecting and I was with her when she had her babies!!! We live on a very cat-friendly street, so it's not uncommon for us to see a cat hanging around our front yard, playing with one of our 2 cats. (Parvana, a neutered male, is our other cat.) Anyways, I was outside one morning playing with both Miss Kitty and Parvana when a fat, multi-colored cat came up and gradually moved closer to Miss Kitty. I went quickly inside to ask my mom about this cat, and when I came back outside, Stranger (as I call this suspected stray cat) was on top of Miss Kitty. I knew that he was taking her virginity, as I have seen lots of cat stuff on the Discovery Channel. I felt so sorry for Miss Kitty at that moment, because she looked so sad. But afterwards, she seemed OK. Now Miss Kitty had her babies!!! I am so excited. And guess what? I saw the birth, too!!!! I got up, as usual, this morning. I got myself all ready, and then, at 7:40, I went to my mom's room, where Miss Kitty was. Miss Kitty was lying under the blankets, as usual. But this time, I couldn't even make out her shape under the covers, and she wasn't moving at all. THIS was unusual. So, I lifted up the covers enough for me to see what she was up to. She was taking quick breaths, like she was scared or in a hurry. THIS was also highly unusual. I got quite excited, but I remained as quite as possible. I noticed that ever few minutes she tensed, like she was pushing. THIS also excited me. I lifted up the covers until she was no longer under them. I carefully lifted up her tail. Excitement bubbled up in my breast, and my heart thumped in anticipation. When I looked at her vulva, I saw a blueish-black bubble, almost. I called my mom into the room. When Mom came to the room, I reported to her what I saw. She looked at her vulva, and announced that she believed that Miss Kitty would be having her babies today probably, and I was going to stay home to watch it. It is a very educational thing for me, seeing as I'm going to be a vet when I grow up. Anyways, I brought Miss Kitty's basket into the room, and gently placed her in it. She kept pushing, and while she did /so, Mom went down to the basement to wake up our cat-loving roommate, Amy. When Amy got in, there was something bulging out of this bubble thingie. It was squirming, and I instantly knew that it was a baby. I got so excited, but I kept petting Miss Kitty, telling her that it would be OK. The baby came out. The bubble thing disappeared, and Miss Kitty began to lick off its sack like an old pro. I was impressed. Once she was done, I moved the baby toward her nipples. It began to suck, and the next baby started coming out. After the first one came out, Miss Kitty decided not to have her babies on the bed. She decided to jump off and go under the bed. We picked up the kitten and followed her. We turned on a lamp and put it on the floor next to the bed. Then the second babe came out just like the first one: blue bubble, sack & babe come out, blue bubble disappears, babe's sack licked off, put near nipples. It was like rewinding the first birth and watching it over, only this one came out faster. I watched in awe as Miss Kitty rested for the next push. (we were expecting four.) Suddenly, the third babe just rolled out in one single push! It happened so fast, I couldn't even report it all to Mom fast enough. (Mom was sitting on the bed, as she was just a bitt gaggy.) The third's sack was licked off, and it began to nurse. Then, after a few short mins, the fourth came out! We were so happy! It didn't pop out like the third one, but it came fast. After it began to nurse, we noticed that Miss Kitty was pushing again. Hmm. Would there be five? Keep reading. And, yes, we were right!!!! Miss Kitty did have another, and it came out fast as the fourth. Miss Kitty, tired and worn as she was, did manage to lick off the sack and eat the placenta. It began to nurse, too, after rolling around over his fellow brothers and sisters. But ... Miss Kitty was still pushing. Could there be six? Keep in mind, readers, that this is the FIRST litter and Miss Kitty will be a year old in 2nd week of July, a month and a half from now. We were worried. But we never lost hope. The sixth one came out, and I had to move it with a cloth over to Miss Kitty's mouth in order for her to break the sack. The babe had already broken it a bit with its squirming, but Miss Kitty was the only one who could do the real job, obviously, Although she was almost asleep, she did manage to lick the sack off. It started nursing, too. Miss Kitty did no more pushing, and we were relieved about that. Another kid would have been too much. She only has eight nipples ... After the babies had nursed for a half hour and Amy had taken pictures, Miss Kitty moved one cat to the closet, and started to come back till we brought them all in. Miss Kitty and her babies stayed in the closet, in the basket, for about three hours. I practically never left the room, except to relive myself. I went to get my schoolwork, and told my best friend, Kenzie, what had happened. When I got home, me and Mom moved the basket to my room, under the bedside table. We put a towel curtain on the side of it, so as to allow privacy. I am so excited! The babes are all settled!!!! Happy, happy, happy!! It has taken me quite a few of these boxes to write it all out, and my reading time, but it was so worth it!!!! Love y'all, Annie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read here a follow-up of this story!
