Is My Cat Normal?

Last night my cat Misty gave birth to 3 kittens each a different color. All 3 kittens died within minutes of being born. The birth process took about an hour, but when I checked my cat this morning, she is still pregnant.

Her tummy is round and her sides are still extended. The kitten embryo's are moving and she is meowing like crazy. She was meowing like crazy last night while she was giving birth, and even before she started to deliver.

I have never heard of a cat that miscarried some of her kittens. Is my cat normal?

CAT HAD KITTENS 2 DAYS APART

HI,I OWNED A CAT 20 YEARS AGO, CALLED BOOTS, SHE WOULDN'T STAY AT MY HOUSE, AND TOOK UP RESIDENCE AT A NEIGHBOURS, I SPENT MY TIME COLLECTING HER DAILY. SHE BECAME PREGNANT,AND WHILST I WAS AT WORK,MY NEIGHBOUR CALLED ME TO SAY BOOTS HAD HAD TWO LARGE DEAD KITTENS.I COLLECTED HER YET AGAIN AND DIDN'T EXPECT ANY MORE KITTENS. I KEPT HER SHUT IN AS SHE WAS DUE TO BE SPAYED.TWO DAYS LATER I WOKE TO FIND SHE HAD HAD THREE HEALTHY KITTENS!!THE KITTENS WERE RAISED AND FOUND GOOD HOMES.BOOTS WAS SPAYED,AND AS SOON AS I BOUGHT HER HOME FROM THE OP,WAS DESPARATE TO GO BACK TO MY NEIGHBOUR.WE AGREED THIS WAS WHERE SHE WANTED TO BE, SO THIS WAS WHERE WE LET HER STAY.

Pregnant cat results

Answer to Pregnant Cat, April 26, 2009
She was still pregnant, but I think something was wrong. About a week later she acted like she was going into labor again and 2 days later 3 more kittens were born dead. We went to remove them and she had 1 living. It looks like its o.k. I hope it makes it she's very proud and protective of it.

How long did it take for Misty to give birth to her other kittens?
Last night when I got home my pregnant cat had given birth to 2 kittens both were dead, not much blood. Her stomach still looks pregnant she won't let me fill of it too much, now it is 24 hrs. later still no more kittens.

Hi there firstly I am so sorry for your cat loosing some of her kittens.....It is sometimes common for a cat to have a "spontaneous abortion" where she will expel the non-living kittens but continue on with the pregnancy with the remaining kittens.....I read this on another cat expert website....I hope she is doing ok & the remaining kittens survived :)

I am sorry for your loss. My cat is due this week too. Cats can be sired by different male cats, thus is the reason why they have different colored kittens. We also know that cats go out of heat after they have been bred. But the males may still be after them during that time period, she just may not want to feel that urge. AS for the kittens, they are surrounded by individual sacks. Most likely cats will continual to have labor once it has started, but the birthing process could take all day. The kittens that were born, did you rub them and keep them warm to stimulate breathing? Were they hairless? (underdeveloped?) If she remained pregant, she could also have a blockage, and I would have called for a vet as soon as possible after a few hours. I hope for the best, though I now see that you should have had a outcome by now.

I don't know what to tell you, I haven't ever heard anything like that.(I should know, I'm a cat expert) I'm sorry to hear about that, it's always sad to lose cats you've never met:( My cat gave birth to five cats and two died within a few minutes. i honestly can't answer your question.

my cat had her first litter last may, I came home from work 2 find her under the table growling! She had 5 kittens, I watched 3 being born and it wasn't until she moved I noticed 2 were dead. We kept 2 kittens and gave 1 2 a neighbour, I think stillborns and miscarriages r unfortuntly 1 of those things. She was very protective and was always moving her kittens. Cupboard or box even behind the washing machine! Good luck.
