Is It Normal For Pregnant Cats To Be Moody?

by Megan
(New Mexico)

Question:
I have like a 7-month old cat and im pretty sure she's pregnant. Her stomach's bigger and she's becoming much more lazier. She's so mean now and like she doesn't even play with me no more or love on me. And when I call her she just walks away. So is this like a sign of pregnancy or what?

Answer:
Although most cats tend to become more affectionate during pregnancy the opposite is also not uncommon. She doesn't do this because she doesn't like you anymore. It's merely a sign she's feeling uncomfortable. However once they have given birth and raised their litter their behavior returns back to normal. If you're still worried though you could consider a check-up at your vet.
