My boyfriend was at work one day and called me to tell me he found a kitten on the side of the interstate. He said he was passing and saw a small cat looking down a drain pipe. (He thought she was thinking about jumping to get away from the road).
He brought her home to me and I gave her a bath and cleaned her up. She was a little scared at first and she hid in a drawer all day one day. I drove around the neighborhood asking people if they had seen her, no one had. That night I found her sleeping in a drawer and was relieved to know that she was safe.
The very next day I went to the store and bought her a topped litterbox, some fancy feast cat food, a remote controlled mouse, all sorts of toy balls with bells in them, and a pink diamond studded collar with a small bell on it. I figured that with a bell on her collar, I could always hear her when she moves around. (No more hiding kitty).
I wouldn't let her outside until she grew up. Today she is 11 mths old and healthy and loving. We live in Tennesse on a few acres on land. She loves to play outside. Last month around February 18, 2011 she began mating. If I have calculated correctly, her due date is April 24th.
I can't wait to see the mother she will be to her kittens. I have made plans to go buy a personal bed for her to have the litter. I'll upload pictures as her pregnancy develops. And more after the birth of the litter.
