Feral Mother Gives Birth
by Alabama Brown

Last week our Loretta had her first liter, six wonderful healthy kittens. Last night Rose gave birth to five lovely little babies. Today our feral Mother cat (who we believed to be pregnant as well) started acting very weird, almost trying to tell me something. I thought she looked slim so I followed her around in circles while she was upset and then in turn upset Loretta and Rose.
Tonight when my husband came home he climbed on the roof, a small cubby corner which seems to be all our cats favorite hangout place, because I thought I heard kittens - nothing there. So then the feral cat, we call her Gray, shows up and climbs into Roses birthing box and picks up three of her babies and runs out into the woods. I then checked on Loretta and her brood and one of them was missing as well, so we went in search of the three missing babies and luckily found them dropped under some leaves near a fallen tree. But I did not find Loretta's lost baby. We then put Jackson, our Boxer puppy outdoors and took the maternity ward into the den, Jackson hates this.
My question is: Could Gray, the feral Mothers babies have died, could she have killed them, accident? And did she steal the other kittens to make up for her lost kittens? I am so sad for Loretta and Rose. What should we do?
We are new Cat people only because people dump their unwanted Cats on our rural road and our hearts are deeper than our wallets. When should we "fix" Rose and Loretta to keep them for having more kittens and how long do we wait to give the little darlings away? Thank you for listening and responding.
