Dora The Cat

by Lisa
(MI)

My daughter's cat got out the first week of May of 2009 and to this day, I don't even know how she got out. Well, needless to say, Dora is now expecting her first litter. We had planned on getting her fixed after we got back from vacation but it didn't happen that way. Now we are waiting for the arrival of Dora's kittens.

I estimate that she is due either this week or next week but am not sure. My daughter is so excited that her cat is going to have kittens. She is in for a shocker because once the kittens are about a week old, she will be taking over the care of changing the cat litter and feeding Dora again.

We put her in the enclosed front porch to wait for the arrival of her kittens. Just so everyone knows, the temperature here in Michigan hasn't reached the 80's or 90's so Dora is not in a sauna room. This was the only room that I could put her so she has privacy and she doesn't have her kittens in the basement ceiling or in the middle of my bed.

I hope for a small litter because she is so tiny. Good luck to everyone else who has a pregnant cat!!

Dora the cat

Good Morning. Just an update on Dora. She is doing great. On July 15th, she had 4 kittens but only 3 survived. She has two boys and 1 girl. The kids promptly name one snowball and another one oreo. The other kitten has been temporaily named fuzzball since we haven't decided on a name for him. Snowball is not quite all white though. Her ears and tail have some grey tint to them. We have already found a home for her once she reaches 8 weeks. A neighbor is taking her. We are keeping the two males. We hope to find a home for Dora but if we can't we just may end up keeping her and somehow coming up with the money to have her fixed. We don't want no more kittens. Dora has really calmed down now since she had her kittens.
