Diarrhea In Cats – Not An Illness, But A Symptom
Diarrhea in cats... Most of us have seen it at least once. Producing soft, almost liquid poop is not an illness, but a symptom. You have to find out the cause to treat it effectively. But here we have a problem. There are so many possible causes for diarrhea in cats that it’s hard to determine what’s really going on with your kitty. The first thing you have to do is check the overall condition of your cat. Is she still lively, active and drinking (or even eating)? If there are no other symptoms it could have been caused by a dietary disorder (or lactose in milk). Then it’s best not to feed her for some time so her intestines can take a rest. Make sure she has plenty to drink. Diarrhea may cause dehydration. This is always dangerous, and particularly for kittens and old cats. You can also give your cat tablets like K-P Anti-Diarrhea that stop diarrhea. If after one day she doesn’t seem to have diarrhea anymore, you can give her rice with cooked chicken, and if that won’t cause any problems, gradually switch to her normal food in the next two days. But... what if she does have other symptoms than soft poop? For example, she could also be vomiting, have fever or be excessively thirsty.

If your kitty also vomits, a
hairball
could be what bothers her.
Roundworms
are also often the villain. Your kitty could also be pregnant –

But diarrhea is also not uncommon as a symptom of serious medical problems like feline distemper, cancer and feline leukemia. In other words: If complaints last for more than a day or if your pet clearly feels ill, you can only do your kitty a favor by taking her to the veterinarian!
