We all know that cats vomit now and then. Very often it's because of a hairball.
But if it appears with other signs of illness or doesn't stop, it could suggest a serious problem. And then you should see a vet.
The same with appetite. If your kitty refuses her food, she may not like the flavor. And then opening a can from a different brand may be enough. But if she seems depressed at the same time, there could be something wrong.
Keep this in mind when you read the following of list of cat illness symptoms: when cats are ill, they usually show more than one symptom. Possible are (among others):
- Vomiting
- Lack of appetite
- Excessive thirst
- Depression
- Abnormal urination
- Constipation
- Hair loss
- Skin problems
- Sneezing
- Coughing
- Diarrhea
- Eye discharge
- Ear discharge
- Fever
About fever you should know that a cat's normal temperature is 38.6°C or 101.5°F, sometimes slightly higher. Anything above 39.2°C or 102.5°F is fever... and a reason to see a vet!
You can take a cat's temperature via the anus with a normal thermometer. Have someone to hold her - your kitty won't like it!
